Great Projects

General Description

Great Projects are monumental structures built by countries to immortalize their power, culture, and ideology. They are divided into three difficulty levels, each available to different categories of powers and requiring appropriate resources, time, and effort.

Great Project Levels

Level I — Outstanding Monument

A large and engineering-complex structure proving a state's ability to create serious and costly architectural projects.

Available to: all powers, starting from minor ones.
Construction time: 1 in-game year.
Minimum build area: 16 chunks (including the monument and surrounding area that is part of the project).
Annual expenses: 200
Required RP posts: 1

Reward for successful completion:

  • Granted by Verder: Prestige.

Level II — National Pride

A national-level project built using advanced technologies of the era. Represents the strength and determination of a nation to create symbols of the era carved in steel and concrete.

Available to:

  • only powers with Middle status and above,
    or
  • less significant powers with direct support and funding from a Middle or higher power.

Construction time: 2 in-game years.
Societal Order requirement: levels I, II, III.
Minimum build area: 25 chunks (including monument and surrounding area as part of the project).
Annual expenses: 250 (600 coins)
Required RP posts: 1

Reward for successful completion:

  • Granted by Verder: Prestige, Societal Order, Economic Points.

Level III — New Wonder of the World

A majestic epoch-defining structure corresponding to or surpassing any of the seven ancient Wonders of the World.

Minimum build area: 49 chunks (including monument and surrounding area as part of the project).
Annual expenses: 300 (900 coins)
Required RP posts: 1

Obstacles:

  • Verder may add one obstacle event, which will require an additional post to resolve.

Reward for successful completion:

  • Granted by Verder: Prestige, Societal Order, Economic Points.

Construction Process

Project Initiation

  1. The state submits an application to the Architecture department for construction of a Great Project, specifying:
    • project level
    • concept
    • justification
  2. Administration checks compliance with formal requirements (status) and approves or rejects the project.
  3. After approval, the state receives the national spirit "Great Construction", active until project completion.

National Spirit "Great Construction"

Active throughout the entire construction period.

RP Post Requirements

  • Posts must describe in detail:
    • work progress
    • overcoming difficulties
    • public reaction
    • technical details
  • Posts are published in Discord according to RP post rules and marked by administration.
  • Missing required posts or low quality may be considered failure to comply with construction conditions.

Obstacles and Crises

  • Verder may initiate an obstacle event.
  • The event simulates unforeseen difficulties:
    • technical
    • social
    • natural
    • financial
  • To resolve an obstacle, the player must create an additional RP post describing the solution.
  • Failed resolution or ignoring the event may lead to delays or failure.

Consequences of Successful Completion

National Spirit "Pride in the Monument"

Duration:

  • for all powers except Great Powers and Hegemons: 3 in-game years
  • for Great Powers and Hegemons: 2 in-game years

Effect:

  • prevents registration of a new Great Project during its active time.

Consequences of Failure or Missed Deadlines

Partial Success (1-year delay)

If the project is completed with a 1-year delay, the state receives half prestige points.

Total Failure (2+ years delay)

The project is considered failed.

The state receives national spirit "Shameful Spectacle":

  • Level I: -2 prestige
  • Level II: -4 prestige
  • Level III: -6 prestige

Duration of "Shameful Spectacle" spirit:
number of years equal to the original planned construction period:

  • 1 year (Level I)
  • 2 years (Level II)
  • 3 years (Level III)

Canal Construction Mechanics

1. Canal Specifics

Canals are infrastructural Great Projects: their construction requires terrain modification and connection of two water basins. They are not pure monuments, but their construction is an engineering feat.

2. Level and Availability

Canals belong to Level III (Wonder of the World).

Available to: only Great Powers and Hegemons, via their direct allies and partners.
Societal Order requirement: levels I, II.
Construction time: 3 years.

3. In-game Requirements

Geographical condition: a canal must connect two existing water objects on the map.

In-game construction: canal must be physically built in realistic form:

  • waterway
  • locks (if possible)
  • reinforced banks

RP posts: 2 posts required:

  1. Design and agreements with countries along the route. Start of earthworks. Construction of locks/ports.
  2. Grand opening with first ship passage.

4. Effects

Prestige:

  • +15 prestige for the builder state

National Spirit "Control over Trade Route":

  • +300 national income to builder and beneficiary country
  • ability to open/close access for friendly and hostile countries
  • accelerated fleet movement between connected basins
